National Eisteddfod 2011
The 2011 National Eisteddfod was the first Eisteddfod in which Teithiau Tango exhibited, and one thing was clear from the beginning - that Welsh people have an insatiable interest in Patagonia. It was great to hear the stories of those who had already been before, and a lot of people sat down with us for a cup of tea and to learn about all our different tours.
It was surprising to hear how many had friends or relatives in Welsh Patagonia, and for many their dream is to go out and meet them, or in some cases to track them down in order to establish contact. We will be working in the coming months to make enquiries on behalf of some of the people who will be travelling with us with the intention of meeting a relative or a family friend out there.
The different tours appealed to different interests - many people were keen to see the Landing Festival's unique celebrations in Puerto Madryn and on the beaches where the Welsh landed, others were interested in the Anniversary of Trevelin Tour and all its visits to ranches in Cwm Hyfryd. Though any mention of skiing made some people run a mile, the Welsh Patagonia Skiing Tour was incredibly popular with those who are looking for a bit of an adventure on their holiday!
As our time at the Eisteddfod came to an end, there was time for us to run over to the main stage to catch Dafydd Iwan's fantastic performance of Yma o Hyd before packing our stall away.
